After making ink drawings on a mirror, I soak the drawings with a solvent to “lift” the ink, allowing the drawings to float on the liquid surface. The images drift on their own, and I blow air in concert with their wanderings to find unexpected drawings on top of the water. These images are transfigurations of drawings into living, moving lines, activated by ritual washing and frozen by transferring them to paper.
